If you would like to visit the famous Golden Ring but would like to avoid the masses of tourists, then this is the perfect excursion for you.
The city of Rostov, one of the earliest settled cities in Russia, was referred to as "the great" by its founder. It is famous for its churches located within the Kremlin that today mainly function as a museum. Pereslavl is located directly at the great Pleshcheevo lake, where the 20-year-old Peter (the Great) conducted his shipbuilding experiments. On this excursion you will be introduced to the intricate history of the old Rus' and to key historical figures like Alexander Nevski and Jury Dolgoruki. Jaroslavl is located at the famous river Volga. Due to its strategic location at an inland port, ornate churches are evidence to the city's commercial importance in the 16th and 17th centuries. As one of the biggest on the Golden Ring, it has however been able to preserve its small-town flair.
